Art Eat was commissioned by Asset Education to provide a series of 15 workshops across Suffolk as part of the Half Term Fund supported by Suffolk County Council. Working with talented and experienced art workshop facilitators in the region we successfully delivered fun and diverse creative activities for children from 5-11 years old which included Shadow Puppetry, Textiles, Book Making, Egg Decoration, Print Making, Collage, Card Making, Felt Making, Nature Weaving and Fabric Painting. Everyone that took part loved it and facilitating creativity in all its guises makes our hearts sing.

Art Eat were commissioned by Ipswich Borough Council to develop a mural as part of their Safer Streets project about the prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls. Artist Catalina Carvajal helped us to deliver a series of creative workshops with charities Volunteering Matters, Lighthouse Women's Aid and Suffolk Rape Crisis resulting in a collaborative design and a powerful mural. We hope that this bright graphic mural in a prominent place delivers strong and clear messages to passers-by about what a safe street is, how to intercept bad behaviour, what consent means as well as zero tolerance prompts. This mural brightens up a tired part of the waterfront and we hope will serve to educate, inform and protect as part of the other fantastic work that was delivered as part of the Safer Streets legacy project.

Art Eat partnered up with Aspire Black Suffolk and Noise of Art to deliver Suffolk Creates, a networking event for local creatives. Supported by the Cultural Recovery Fund from Ipswich Borough Council and with the aim of bringing the creative community closer together after the time spent in lockdowns and under restrictions. The event was held at The Hold in Ipswich and was attended with many industries represented - art, music, photography, video games, design, marketing… It was a fun afternoon with music from DJs Ben Osborne and Daniel Lee Harvey, and included free drinks, and speed networking games hosted by the talented local artist and facilitator Hannah Aria.

We worked with EVEWRIGHT and the Ipswich and Suffolk Council for Racial Equality to deliver mural designed through workshops delivered at a local Prison. The mural was designed and painted in the prison and then transported and installed onto hoardings near Dance East on Ipswich Waterfront. This project was funded through the Stop Loan Sharks Community Fund which inspired the conversations and a design warning against the perils of using loan sharks. This mural can be found along the Ipswich Waterfront.

Ipswich Borough Council commissioned us to develop the design of a new mural for Maple Park in Ipswich Inspired by artwork created by children from the neighbouring Hanford Hall Primary School. The project was completed over 10 days by local artist Jitka Schejbalova with the help of the school children and Art Eat volunteers. The park had been recently renovated and the mural added a much-needed final splash of colour to an area of the park, to further encourage local residents to enjoy the gorgeous space.

During one of the lockdown periods, we worked with artist EVEWRIGHT and 16 young people to design a new mural through online art workshops. Art Eat fundraised and managed this young people's community mural which was co-created and supported by 14 local youth and community organisations in the area. The workshops took place online and by the time we were ready to paint, restrictions had been loosened and this allowed the participants to take part in the painting as well as the design workshops. The project was produced in collaboration with the Ipswich and Colchester Museum Service and featured in the award-winning Power of Stories Exhibition, showcasing a truly collaborative and engaged project. The themes and characters of the Black Panther movie were explored, inspired by some of the costumes from the movie which also featured in the exhibition.

We commissioned Bristol-based mural artist Zoë Power to deliver art workshops to the local community, inspiring the design of a large mural on Quay Street in Ipswich. We worked with six mental health, homelessness and young people's charities and engaged with over 100 people to take part in a series of 10 creative workshops about Ipswich. The final design encompassed all the ideas from the workshops and represented the most important and positive things about the town. Volunteers supported the paint-up, which took 11 days to complete and many, many litres of paint which were kindly donated by Kent Blaxill. The project was funded by The National Lottery Community fund and was one of the first murals we delivered in Ipswich in the run up to Art Eat Festival in 2019.

This mural was designed, developed and delivered in collaboration with Ghanaian artist Edward Ofosu, Mexican artist Raul G. Loya and residents at HMP Hollesley Bay prison. This project was inspired by the award-winning Power of Stories exhibition which featured costumes from the Marvel Studios Black Panther movie which was held at Christchurch Mansion and went on to tour East Anglia. It was developed as a Covid-safe art activity for residents of the prison. Workshops were led online by the artists from Ghana and Mexico and educational sessions about objects in the exhibition were delivered by Eleanor Root from Colchester + Ipswich Museum Service. The workshops were based on creative workbooks designed by Edward Ofosu and the art materials generously donated by the Ipswich Museum. The opportunity for prison residents in Suffolk to work with international artists and deliver public artwork in Ipswich for local people to enjoy, is one sure way to put Ipswich on the map as a progressive and dynamic town.

Art Eat was commissioned by Crest Nicholson to design and produce a unique and crafty seasonal gift which was hand-delivered to new residents in the Henley Gate Housing Development in Ipswich. We worked with illustrator Catalina Carvajal to produce an elegant and delightful Christmas decoration-making kit. Delivering season greetings and a fun activity for adults and children alike.

Art Eat was commissioned to develop a Colchester-themed mural on the ceiling and walls of Lion Walk. For this project, we selected a local children's book illustrator Tom Knight who worked with the client to research the people and places significant to Colchester to develop a huge 100 square meter ceiling mural panel. We then went on to develop the second phase of the project by extending the mural characters onto the walls, including setting up an 'Instagram moment' and designing an information panel which explains the stories behind all the characters and places in the mural. Thanks to mural painters Adrian Leroy and Dan Budd helped us to paint.

In keeping with our love for all things food related, when Art Eat was approached by Caribbean Street Food business Coconut & Lime to bring an idea to life and paint the food truck, we jumped at the chance. For this commission, we selected one of our longstanding collaborators, the talented illustrator and mural artist Catalina Carvajal who worked with the client to develop his ideas into a gorgeous and bold design for his great food truck business. Watch out for Patrick in his new look truck, travelling the events around the UK serving delicious Caribbean food and bringing an upbeat tropical vibe everywhere he goes.

Youth Takeover Digital Art Workshops with Michelle Brace & Evewright at Dance East It was great to be invited to join in with Dance East’s Youth Takeover as part of Hullabaloo 22, a summer-long programme of art activities for young people in Ipswich. We have wanted to create digital art around the murals on Ipswich Waterfront for a long time. It was fantastic to work with artist Michelle Brace on a one-day creative workshop in Dance East’s Digital Studio which includes a 180-degree green screen room.

We were briefed to give space to young people to express their identity and creativity. We made digital art inspired by artworks painted on the Ipswich Waterfront and the workshop participants chose which mural on the day. Young artists had a Zoom call with artist Evewright to understand the process of making that work, in preparation for making new digital art with Michelle Brace. Young artists took photos of the mural and created moving images on iPads with the Procreate app.

High points of the day were teenager Sully and little Araminta both teaching dance routines for the very first time, the video call with Eve Wright the lead artist in our first youth mural back in 2020 and a surprise visit from the amazing dancer Isaac Breakin James. Amazing creative energy from the young people and fabulous artists supporting them and developing new skills.

We were awarded a grant from The Women's Centenary Fund to celebrate the life of the Sikh Princess, Sophia Duleep Singh. In order to make this project as relevant to the Sikh community as possible Art Eat commissioned the London-based Sikh artist Artful Skecha to come to Ipswich and lead design workshops with women and children at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara. The outcome of these workshops inspired the mural design resulting impactful commemorative piece of this prominent suffragette with connections to Suffolk and can be found on the Ipswich Waterfront close to the Jerwood Dance House.

We brought back a popular and longstanding community art fair from the brink. Art Eat was approached by East Suffolk Council and Visit Felixstowe BID with a desire to reinstate the longstanding open-air Art Fair called Art on the Prom which had suffered a 4 year hiatus due to the pandemic. Now in its 17th year, the fantastic art bonanza took place once again in September 2023 showcasing 90 local artists and crafters. It was a huge success drawing a crowd of approximately 8,000 people and generating an estimated £45,000 worth of art sales. The event gained fantastic support from sponsors, the local council, and the general public. As an organisation, we were thrilled to have been able to work with the council and the BID to bring back this much-loved event and turn the project into a viable, sustainable event for future years. To celebrate Halloween, we delivered a range of performers to wow shoppers at Lion Walk Shopping Centre. With acts ranging from a spooky contortionist to tarot card reader, from stilt-walkers to hand balancers, we put together a weird and wonderful weekend schedule of entertainments which allowed us to work alongside incredible artists who really impressed the crowd and the client. Great fun was had all around.

Rights Community Action commissioned two murals in Lowestoft as part of the We Are Here campaign to encourage community resilience to the climate emergency. Art Eat selected artists from Bud Studio who worked with 25 community participants to develop the design which is a depiction of Lowestoft and illustrates all the positive action happening in terms of climate, such as wind energy. It is also a map of the area and works to illustrate the vibrance of the environment and also encourages tree planting and protection of the landscape.

Rights Community Action commissioned two murals in Lowestoft as part of the WeAreHere campaign to encourage community resilience to the climate emergency. Art Eat selected artists from Bud Studio who worked with 25 community participants to discuss the climate emergency and do creative workshops to develop the designs. This mural depicts a woman urging people to use their voices to create positive change. Flood waters, a water level marker and seagulls feature in this mural as a nod to the climate emergency and the devastating floods of 1952.

Art Eat was invited to design a mural on a private garage door in Manningtree in Essex which is located in front of the small estuarine beach in the town. An obvious point of inspiration was the local group of wild swimmers and clean water campaigners known as the Manningtree Mermaids. We commissioned a long-time collaborator and friend Catalina Carvajal to design and paint this mural and it is a delightful addition to Britain's Smallest Town.

During the Spring and Summer of 2022 Art Eat developed and delivered a complex and vibrant project aimed at increasing creative and cultural activities for young people in Ipswich after the pandemic. Funded through Suffolk County Council and part of the Ipswich Cultural Education Programme's campaign Hullabaloo22.

Art Eat produced three new murals designed collaboratively with various youth groups, an outdoor photography exhibition about skate culture, a paint jam where members of the public were invited to redesign and freshen up the urban art in and around Stoke Bridge skatepark, a celebration of the skate parks' 20 year anniversary in collaboration with Skate Suffolk and HOAX. We also ran 'Streets with Attitude' collaborative workshops for people on wheels with artist Dulce Duca finalising in a public performance over the Jubilee weekend. Great fun was had by all, and much was achieved by the young people of Ipswich.

Art Eat worked with Inside Out Community to create a truly collaborative mural painted on the Ipswich Waterfront. The design of the mural was led by Suffolk-based artist Allan Williams and the mural painting was led by Colchester-based mural artist Adrian Leroy. The design celebrated two years of creative and well-being workshops run for multi-ethnicity groups who participated in art workshops where they made art of all kinds from music to pottery, from textile art to drumming, from dance to creative writing, all an exploration of culture and community, with creativity and wellbeing at the heart of the activities.

The project itself was made possible with funding support from the Baring Foundation as well as a few other funders, Inside Out Community reached out to people from more than ten communities in Ipswich over the past two years including the Anglo-Chinese Cultural Exchange (ACCE), Suffolk Chinese Family Welfare Association (SCFWA), Karibu African Support Group, Be Me Like We, Guru Nanak Gurdwara Ipswich Sikh Temple, Ipswich Community Media Integration Team’s ESOL group, The Suffolk Liberal Jewish Community, the Roma Community, members of the Windrush Generation as well as two new groups created through this project - a new Bangladeshi women’s group and an Eastern European group.

At the launch, celebrated Iranian/British actor and comedian Omid Djalili spoke of the importance of creativity in relation to mental health.

Art Eat teamed up with Rosehill Library to deliver a fun afternoon for the local community including music, art workshops and mural painting.

As part of the larger Hullabaloo22 Project centred around re-engaging young people with arts and culture post-Covid and thanks to funding from Suffolk County Council, we delivered several activities centred around the celebration of the 20th birthday of Stoke Bridge Skate Park in Ipswich. We worked with local artists and young people to revamp the park with new artwork in a paint jam celebration which was co-produced by local organisations HOAX and Skate Suffolk and included activities including music, live painting, and skateboard lessons.

To celebrate the new mural section of Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Colchester the venue asked Art Eat to run two days of art workshops over the autumn half-term which were totally free for anyone to attend. The Lion Mask workshops were designed by Tom Knight and were delivered by illustrator and creative workshop facilitator Hannah Tooke. Children and parents alike took part and appreciated the creative activity on offer which was put on by the shopping centre and was free to attend.

Art Eat were approached to provide walkabout artists, circus workshops and art workshops during a free festival in Lowestoft called The Festival of Kindness organised by the mental health charity Waveney Mind. We really enjoy organising entertainment, workshops and music programmes for events and festivals and would love to hear from you if you are looking for programming support. We have an extensive network of connections across the UK and offer full production and marketing support with our programming.

We organised an art, print and craft fair in the University of Suffolk. Attended by over 40 independent artists and makers, the fair took place during the Art Eat Festival weekend in September 2019. Art Eat are committed to platforming visual artists and we curate exhibitions and art events as part of our ongoing programme.
